How to Read Your Electric Meter
Your meter will continually flash three separate messages. Here's what those messages mean.
The first message should say 'Closed.' This means that power is on and flowing into the property.
The second message should read "888.888" and is test to ensure your meter is working properly.
The last number is your kW-hour read. Subtract it from your last read to get your current consumption.
